Spinus tristis

This bright yellow bird goes through a molting process twice a year, once in early spring and then in the fall. As the warmer months approach, the male of the species exchanges its drab olive green gray feathers for a brilliant yellow and a black cap. They primarily eat seeds and plants, which makes them frequent visitors to backyard feeders.
