How to Use this Guide
Following the bodies of water that flow through eastern Rhode Island, this guide focuses on areas bordering the Seekonk River, the Providence River, and Narragansett Bay.
Areas
In addition to the main written description for each bird, some will have additional indicators as follows:
Conservation Status
- Birds near threatened or endangered
- Common birds in steep decline
- Conservation efforts led to an increase in population
- No arrow indicates that there is currently no concern
Seasonality
Unless specific months are noted, i.e. Feb–May next to the Latin name, the bird can be spotted all year round in Rhode Island.
