Bonaparte's Gull

Chroicocephalus philadelphia Jun–Feb

Similar in coloring to the Laughing Gull, this bird has a slender black beak and pink legs. They often feast on insects captured in flight during the breeding season and at other times eat small fish, diving like a tern. Nonbreeding birds have a gray spot on the side of the head that can look like an "ear."
