Eastern Wood Pe-wee

Contopus virens May–Oct

During the warmer months the call of this bird is easily recognizable. Its signature sound is an upward pee-a-weeeeee, often but not always followed by a downward wheee-wooooo. In appearance it is an unassuming brown gray with gray wing bars and can be found in the mid-canopy.
