Greater Yellowlegs

Tringa melanoleuca Mar–Nov

A slim sandpiper with bright lanky yellow legs, it whistles the same note whew-whew-whew three or more times in a row when calling. The coloring on top has a speckled look, with white and black dots on a sandy background. A pair was observed foraging for food at low tide near Bullock Cove.
