Northern Mockingbird

Mimus polyglottos

Very easy to spot due to its frequent vocalization, this bird has the remarkable ability to mimic sounds heard around them. They can learn hundreds of different bird songs, and even copy other animals such as frogs, crickets, and dogs, in addition to sounds generated by human activities including machinery and car alarms. They are extremely adaptable and are often found in urban environments. When the wings are extended, bold white patches can be seen, which are sometimes used in "wing-flash" displays.
