Red-breasted Merganser

Mergus serrator

Similar in shape to the Common Merganser, but being slightly smaller in size and having a spiky crest, the male has a white band on the neck separating the dark green head from the reddish brown breast. The female lacks the white lower face patch seen on the female Common Merganser.
