Trumpeter Swan

Cygnus buccinator May–May

The largest waterfowl native to North America, these swans can weigh over 25 lbs. Spotting them in Rhode Island can be a rare occurrence, but they do make an appearance from time to time. Similar to the Tundra Swan but with a solid black bill, they often have a red line on the lower mandible.
